Hi @NaveenWika
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand that your 128 GB USB pen drive was connected to your mobile using an OTG adapter and is now continuously asking to be formatted, even after attempting to format it on both your phone and laptop. I'll be glad to help you look into this further.
To assist you better, could you kindly share the following details:
- The exact model of your HP laptop
- Does the USB drive appear in File Explorer or Disk Management?
- Are you receiving any specific error message while formatting the drive?
- Have you tried connecting the USB drive to another computer or through a different USB port?
- Is the USB drive getting detected with the correct storage capacity (128 GB) or is it showing a different size?
In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:
- Disconnect the USB drive and restart your laptop.
- Connect the USB drive directly to the laptop without using any adapters or hubs.
- Open Disk Management:
- Press Windows + X
- Select Disk Management
- Check if the USB drive appears there and note its status.
- If the drive appears as RAW or Unallocated, kindly share a screenshot of the Disk Management window.
- Run the Windows error-checking tool:
- Open File Explorer
- Right-click the USB drive
- Select Properties > Tools > Check
- If available, test the USB drive on another computer to determine whether the behavior follows the drive or the system.
I hope this helps.
