Hi, I have a new HP ENVY x360 Convertible 13z-ay000 that comes with a 65W HP AC standard adapter and barrel port, and also supports USBC charging. I also already have a USBC docking station that's designed to pass 60W to a laptop, and it needs to be powered on to operate at all. My question is, can I use that docking station in the USBC port while the laptop is simultaneously plugged into the HP AC adapter? (The docking station does function with the laptop without the AC adapter plugged in.) It seems the laptop would effectively be connected to two power sources, and I wonder if that would be a problem.
I have another smaller USBC *hub* that can also pass power at 60W if it's plugged in, but it can be operated without plugging it in. So, same question, really: while the laptop is connected to the AC adapter, could I connect power to the hub? Or would I need to only use the hub unpowered?
I'm really aiming to run a few things (like logitech cam, usb electric fan, backup SATA drive, mouse dongle, and hdmi out) off of a usbc hub or docking station, and thinking it might need its own power.
Thanks for any help.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether you can connect the laptop charger to the computer when it is connected to the docking station.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
The laptop can charge or work with only one power source. If you have the laptop connected to the docking station then do not connect the laptop charger and it may cause the docking station to disconnect from the computer.
I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

Ok, thanks for your reply @The_Fossette.
I had tried using both for a week, and the docking station continued to work (data & HDMI) while the adapter was also plugged in. From your response, would this mean that the Envy was necessarily using power from the docking station? In other words, the USB-c port can't disconnect power delivery but pass data? In any case, I've moved on from the docking station to an unpowered hub, but this information would be useful going forward.
Maybe this is a separate question, but does usbc powering have any of the "smart" charging capabilities that are included with the AC smart adapter? I'm specifically thinking of management of battery overcharging while connected, like for example bypassing the battery when it's over 90%. Thanks for any insight.

Most of the modern charger will not overcharge the battery and cut off once the battery is fully charged.
