HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch1000 (436W7AV)

I have a Dell laptop charger (130W, 19.5V, 6.7A) which seems to be compatible with the (65W, 19.5V, 3.3A) charger that came with my HP ENVY Laptop 17-ch1xxx, except that it has a 7.5 mm barrel rather than the 4.5 mm one needed for my system. Can I just use a 7.5mm-to-4.5mm adapter.to make the Dell charger work with my HP laptop, or are chargers and laptops designed to not work between computer manufacturers?

Please do NOT try that. Do you really wish to throw your computer to a bin ?

Regards.

No, of course not, which is why I am asking.

Can you explain what the problem is with the Dell charger that does not apply to "universal" chargers? Or are they just as problematic?
