I spoke to someone in tech support but I wanted to confirm whether it is acceptable to use a power adapter with a wattage higher than the adapter that comes with the laptop. For example, the charge cord that came with the HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14t was 65W so would it be ok to use a 90W adapter?
The reason I am asking is because I am interested in purchasing a USB-C Hub from Amazon that uses 15W to power. So if I plug in the 65W adapter that came with the Spectre laptop, after passing through the adapter, the laptop would only be getting 50W which is insufficient power. Someone recommended purchasing a more power adapter (such as 80-90W) to compensate for the drain the USB-C Hub causes.
I am being told that is a bad idea, however, because it can damage the laptop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Nothing wrong with using higher wattage chargers (must be physically fit), they will give better charging time and cooler. The downsize is they are more expensive and normally heavier.
Regards.
