You also need the HP SimplePass application software for your machine to use the fingerprint sensor. The drivers merely enable the fingerprint sensor hardware.
Unfortunately the HP Support site for the machine doesn't list HP SimplePass. This is likely an omission by HP, as the machine came originally with a version of this fingerprint and password management software.
A search for HP SimplePass on HP Support should turn up a link to a download for it for Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

Glad to help.
If anyone else is having issues with Validity fingerprint sensors on HP notebooks and HP Support can't help, then send an email to support@validityinc.com.
But first, you must contact HP support first.

I have had my pavilion m6 laptop since june and my fingerprint scanner isn't working. i have tried opening the file on my comoputer to see why it wont scan and the file doesn't even open. I use the scanner for all my passwords. the light on the scanner doesn't even come on. i went to my device managers list and it has validity listed under the biomaterials or whatever. i just need my scanner to start working again.
