After the last Windows update for version 1903 (Aug-2019) the fingerprint sensor stops working. I've checked its status at device manager and it is flagged with a warning: Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0050) is not working correctly because Windows can´t load controllers for the device.
I try to install new controllers, but Windows says that the updated controllers are already installed. I reinstall them but the problem remains. Do anyone has experienced this? Solutions?

Windows 1903 did a good job of shaking things around.
You likely need a new fingerprint reader driver.
The following MIGHT work, though it is not listed as a match to your fingerprint reader hardware (device). The information file does list the Envy 17 Laptop though there is frequently more to it than matching the generic model name.
??
Information files - Download / Save / Read
Download / Save / Install package:
Before changing anything (more than you have), make sure you can log into your computer using other than the fingerprint reader.
Download and Save the installation package onto your computer
Open the Device Manager
Open Biometrics
Right-Click on your fingerprint reader > Properties
Uninstall AND Delete the driver
Restart the computer and log in
Open File Explorer
Navigate to the folder in which you saved the downloaded package (likely your Downloads folder)
Double-tap on the installation package to install it.
After the driver is installed, Restart the computer and log in
There is nothing "new" going in in your computer's Software and Drivers Support Website; nonetheless, if you wanted to reload the old fingerprint driver for any reason, you could do so.

Hi Dragon-Fur,
thank you very much for your answer. I follow your steps until restart the computer. For login i was able to use again the fingerprint sensor (led blinking). I didn't install the new drivers! Only uninstall and delete the previous! So, do you recommend to install the new drivers or can I keep as it is? What is the best option?
Thank you very much!

You are welcome.
If everything is working, No need to install the new driver.
”Keep as is”.
Happy Computing!
