Microsoft Windows 11

I'm facing a major issue with my HP Pavilion Wireless 600 keyboard. It's constantly losing connection, causing significant lag, slow typing, and repeated letters as if keys are stuck. Despite trying all the basic fixes like changing batteries and switching USB ports for the dongle, the problem persists. My computer is on the table just 30 cm away from the keyboard, so there shouldn't be any signal issues. On top of the connectivity problems, the keyboard itself has some frustrating quirks. It has two fn keys but only one ctrl key, and I can't use the F keys without pressing the fn button, which is quite inconvenient. I had to resort to writing an AutoHotKey script just to use them properly.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on how to fix this? I've run out of ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if someone has a solution for the connectivity/poor signal issues. I can live with the F keys issues, but the keyboard is unusable with this constant lag.

Hi @Ana888,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, so let's delve a bit deeper into potential solutions for your connectivity issues with the HP Pavilion Wireless 600 keyboard.

  • Interference: Even though your computer is close, there could be interference from other wireless devices nearby. Try moving any other wireless devices away from the keyboard and receiver to see if it improves the connection.
  • Driver Update: Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues. Visit HP's website to check for any available updates for your keyboard.
  • USB Dongle Placement: Experiment with different USB ports on your computer. Sometimes, certain ports can have better connectivity than others.
  • Signal Strength: Check if there's any metal objects or other obstructions between the keyboard and the receiver. Even though it's close, something might be interfering with the signal.
  • Battery Contacts: Ensure that the battery contacts inside the keyboard are clean and making proper contact with the batteries. Dirty or corroded contacts can lead to intermittent connectivity problems.
  • Keyboard Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your keyboard. Sometimes, firmware updates can address connectivity issues.

As for the keyboard quirks with the fn and F keys, it sounds like you've already found a workaround using AutoHotKey.

If none of the above solutions resolve your connectivity issues, it's possible that there's a hardware defect with either the keyboard or the USB receiver, and you may need to consider getting a replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
