Microsoft Windows 11

Since I upgraded to Windows 11 the write speed has dropped from 1.1GB to 150 mb/s.

Carrying out tests with the official AMD drivers suddenly the speed was back to normal.

But sadly AMD's official drivers cause sudden total crashes.

I did a clean uninstall and installed the ones from HP.
But unfortunately the writing speed plummeted again.

To confirm, I reinstalled the official AMD drivers, but the speed remained low.

So I don't know exactly what I did to get the SSD speed back to normal.

Can anyone tell me what exactly is the driver that controls the SSD speed?

1. There's a firmware update for SSDs on your product's page. See the info first if this is indeed your SSD:

https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp107001-107500/sp107348.html

https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp107001-107500/sp107348.exe

2. How to Install AMD Ryzen™ Chipset Drivers on a Windows® Based System. You should check AMD's page for drivers for your chipset and processor. There are two kinds of drivers that have to do with the nvme, chipset and raid (on raid configs).   https://www.amd.com/en/support

Hi.

The Ssd in the notebook is a Samsung not Intel. There is no firmware update.

I have installed the drivers recommended by AMD which automatically recognizes the Cpu

However Amd warns:

"If you experience issues using the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver package downloaded from AMD.com, please install the OEM-provided drivers for full support and compatibility."

Also I wanted to install the latest drivers for Amd taken from HP but unfortunately they dont install (pack sp142131) although its indicated they are for Windows 11 21h2

I can only install the previous pack (sp140534 or sp140551  )

I always perform a clean uninstall with Amd Cleanup Utility

Sorry for the delay maldjni, which Samsung ssd do you have?

* The driver that cannot install, correctly refuses to do so, if you look at its release notes https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp142001-142500/sp142131.html it is only for OPERATING SYSTEM(S):
Microsoft Windows 11 version 22H2 (64-bit)

Have you tried Samsung's NVME driver. I know it doesn't officially support it, but some have managed to get it to work. It's actually better than the windoze one.

This is the most recent one https://semiconductor.samsung.com/resources/software-resources/Samsung_NVM_Express_Driver_3.3.exe INTEL RST drivers kind of block it, but you don't have that problem obiously....

Says its impossible to install it.

The last solution is to install Windows 22h2 with the drivers sp142131 and see what happens

1. Stay away from 22h2. It's buggy as hell...

2. 142131 is for the AMD  gpu and won't do anything for your SSD. A new chipset driver from AMD might.....

This is the contents of the HP drivers. Not only for Gpu

Agreed. So maybe 10% it might change something. Not to state the obvious, but SSDs suffer from continuous writes and perhaps it's not a driver issue but the coming out of a windows 10-> windows 11 upgrade.

Maybe run a TRIM command to see if anything changes?
