Thanks for sharing that, and great catch on the BTHUSB (Bluetooth USB) events in the Event Viewer. That detail can be quite telling.
 

When you see only BTHUSB-related events around the time of a USB disconnection issue, it often points to a Bluetooth-related driver hiccup or power management setting rather than a physical USB port issue. It’s not uncommon for Bluetooth stacks (especially when integrated via USB) to momentarily drop or misbehave without flagging traditional USB controller errors.


To further diagnose:

  • Try disabling “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” under Device Manager > Bluetooth > Intel Wireless Bluetooth / BTHUSB device > Power Management.
  • Cross-reference timestamps with System or Application logs to see if anything else lines up (like WLAN events or driver reloads).
  • If it’s reproducible, try temporarily disabling Bluetooth and checking if USB disconnections stop.

Apologies for the delayed response — I’ve been a bit busy recently.

Just to update you on what I’ve observed so far: the USB disconnection issue seems to have stopped, though I can’t confirm with complete certainty since I’ve been away from my full home setup. However, I’ve noticed that my mouse no longer disconnects from the laptop, which is a good sign. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth disconnections are still happening.

I’ve already tried disabling “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” under the Bluetooth device’s Power Management tab, but the issue still persists. I also checked the System and Application logs to cross-reference the disconnection times, but there doesn’t appear to be any clear correlation or relevant events beyond the usual BTHUSB entries.

Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to try or if you'd recommend looking into specific drivers. I really appreciate all the guidance so far!

Just to follow up with some additional information — it looks like this issue may not be entirely unique. I came across a Microsoft Community post describing the same kind of momentary disconnection behavior I'm facing.

In that case, the user was on a desktop with an Intel network card, while I’m on a laptop with a MediaTek adapter, so there are some hardware differences. Still, the symptoms are strikingly similar. That made me think, maybe the BTHUSB events are more of a side effect rather than the actual root cause of the disconnections.

Just thought this might help offer some broader context as we continue narrowing things down. Let me know what you think.

Quick update:

It turns out I was mistaken earlier — the USB disconnection issue is still present, but it's very subtle. The reason I initially thought it had stopped is because the disconnection now seems to last only a brief moment before immediately reconnecting, making it feel almost seamless during use.

So, while it's less disruptive, it's definitely still happening in the background. Just wanted to clarify that in case it helps with further troubleshooting.

Hi 

I've successfully completed the BIOS restore as per your instructions. While the original issue persists, a new problem has now emerged. Earlier, the Bluetooth icon was visible in the taskbar, although it would disconnect after some time. However, it has now completely disappeared from the taskbar.

Looking forward to your guidance on how to proceed.
