Hi @azteker,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing a black screen issue with your HP Victus 15 laptop, there could be several possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check the power connection: Ensure that your laptop is properly connected to a power source and that the power adapter is functioning correctly. Try connecting the laptop directly to a power outlet rather than relying on battery power.
- External display: Connect your laptop to an external display (such as a monitor or TV) using an HDMI or VGA cable. If the external display shows a picture, it indicates that the issue may lie with your laptop's built-in display.
- Brightness settings: Adjust the brightness level of your laptop's display using the function keys or settings within the operating system. Sometimes, the screen can appear black if the brightness is set too low.
- Hardware reset: Perform a hard reset by disconnecting the laptop's power supply, removing the battery (if possible), and holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reconnect the power supply and try turning on the laptop again.
- Update graphics drivers: Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can sometimes cause display issues. Visit the official HP support website and download the latest graphics drivers specifically designed for your HP Victus 15 model. Install the drivers and restart the laptop to see if the issue persists.
- BIOS update: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model on the HP support website. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
- Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to determine if the black screen issue is caused by software conflicts. In Safe Mode, only essential system processes and drivers are loaded. If the screen works fine in Safe Mode, it suggests that a software or driver conflict is causing the problem. You can then try uninstalling recently installed software or updating problematic drivers.
- System Restore: If the black screen issue started occurring after a specific software installation or system change, you can try performing a system restore to a previous point when your laptop was functioning correctly. System Restore allows you to roll back your computer's settings to an earlier state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
