Victus fb-151013dx
Microsoft Windows 11

What is the maximum amount of RAM that this will support (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-victus-15-6-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-7535hs-8gb-memory-nvidia-gefor...)?

It has 8gb of DDR5 (@ 4800mHz)  installed in 2 slots, and I’ve found 2 different answers - 32gb and 64gb.
32gb seems reasonable and Crucial / Micron has DDR5 @ 5600 MHz for a decent price, that should downclock to 4800MHz.

Thx!

Hi:

HP has no relevant service manual for the 15-fb1xxx model series.

The one of the support page is for the older model series and doesn't even list DDR5 memory.

Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb1000 - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

I would imagine that it will support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

If you decide to buy the notebook the only way to confirm how much memory it will support would be to run this command:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Crucial indicates the notebook will support 64 GB of memory (2 x 32 GB).

@Motorref,

Whilst @Paul_Tikkanen posted his response, I was also looking for helpful feedback, which took some time.

I am pretty sure we can trust Crucial (and other secondary sources) which claim that you could install up to 2 x 32GB of DDR5 PC5-38400, 4800 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 262-pin RAM sticks.

However, few people actually would need or would benefit from installing this much RAM.

The only thing I would like to add to Paul's comment is that, as far as I could ascertain, the best 2 x 16GB DDR5 RAM kit would be this Crucial (dual-rank: 2Rx8!) purchase option: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2x16GB-5200MHz-4800MHz-CT2K16G52C42S5/dp/B0BNXXC6XW/ref=sr_1_14?crid=....

Kind Regards,

Thanks Paul. I’m picking one up tomorrow and will find out then.

Agreed. 64 go seems like overkill, and hard to justify.

Thanks!
