Hi there, my laptop’s built-in camera isn't working. I can't find the device in Device Manager, even after checking for hidden devices and scanning for hardware changes. I’ve already tried a factory reset, but it didn't help. Running the troubleshooting software didn't fix it either. I can't find any physical webcam kill switches on the laptop, and my privacy settings are all set to 'allow.' I'm at a loss for what to do next. I’m attaching a screenshot of the error from the 'Camera' app. Thanks for the help!Screenshot 2026-02-05 164239.png

I have exactly the same issue. The laptop is an HP 14s-dq2xxx. My camera has never worked since i got the laptop (A couple of years ago now!!) But i've never needed to use the camera..until now I need to sit a remote exam.

 

I've been on the HP site, and it was suggested to install a driver.. but my version of windows (Windows 11 Home Version 25H2) isn't on the list of available downloads.

 

I'm not a tecchy person so am pulling my hair out here 😞
