Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T52AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a problem with my Victus 16 16-s0023nt laptop. Omen Gaming Hub balanced mode enabled and fans are on auto settings. (It doesnt matter if they on manual btw)  While im gaming fans are ramping up according to the cpu and gpu temperature. That is absolutely correct behavior. However suddenly fans decides to turn 5000 RPM while temps are excellent (70-75 Celcius). And when 5000 rpm bug starts, fans never slow down or stops. Even i close the game and back to the desktop on idle status (temps are 35-45 Celcius) fans never slows down, continue to turn 5000 RPM. Im sure there is a bug here. Things i tried already;
*Clean the vents

*Clean fans and did a diagnosis on bios (proove that they are not broken)

*Renew thermal grease

*Install bunch of new and old drivers from hp support or Microsoft update

*Different Omen Gaming Hub versions and SDK packages

*Reinstall Windows 11 and go back to Windows 10 (clean install)

*Downgrade/upgarde bios version

I am totally desperate now. I think this is either bios or OGH problem.

TLDR; Fan control sometimes out of control.

Thanks.

Thanks for your insterest but none of the above recommendations fixed this issue. I already tried lots of things including your advices. I fixed this issue by UNINSTALLING OMEN GAMING HUB from my device. Now my device is more responsive, more cool and more silent.

Moral of the story; i will never ever ever buy a Hp product. You cannot fix problems by advicing some random "solutions" to the people who are your customer. Bye.

Hi @pesimistanblue,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like you've already gone through an extensive troubleshooting process with your HP Victus 16-s0023nt laptop, yet the fan behavior issue persists. Given that you’ve cleaned the hardware, updated and downgraded software, and even reinstalled the OS, this could indeed be a bug in the system or a specific conflict with the Omen Gaming Hub software. Here are a few additional steps you can try:

1. Check for Any Pending Windows Updates

  • Cause: Sometimes, unresolved bugs can be addressed in newer Windows updates.
  • Solution: Go to Settings > Windows Update and make sure your system is fully updated.

2. Disable Omen Gaming Hub Services Temporarily

  • Cause: The Omen Gaming Hub software might be interfering with the fan control system.
  • Solution:
    1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Find the service related to Omen Gaming Hub (it might be named something like OMEN Gaming Hub Service).
    3. Right-click the service, select Stop, and then change the Startup type to Disabled.
    4. Restart your laptop and observe the fan behavior without the Omen Gaming Hub running.

3. Check for Any BIOS Settings Related to Fan Control

  • Cause: Some laptops have BIOS settings that override software controls.
  • Solution:
    1. Enter the BIOS by pressing F10 during startup.
    2. Look for any settings related to Fan Control, Thermal Management, or similar.
    3. If available, try adjusting these settings to see if it resolves the issue.

4. Update or Rollback the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (DPTF) Driver

  • Cause: The DPTF driver controls thermal and power management and might conflict with the fan control.
  • Solution:
    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Expand the System Devices section.
    3. Look for Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework and try updating or rolling back the driver.
    4. Restart your laptop and check the fan behavior.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @pesimistanblue,

Please find the next steps below.

6. Check for Any Running Background Processes

  • Cause: Sometimes, a background process might cause the CPU to spike intermittently, which can trigger the fans to run at high speeds.
  • Solution:
    1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and go to the Processes tab.
    2. Monitor for any unusual CPU usage by background processes, even when idle.
    3. If you find any suspicious processes, try ending them to see if it affects the fan speed.

7. Consider a Factory Hardware Reset

  • Cause: If none of the software solutions work, the issue might be rooted in a hardware configuration problem that a factory reset could resolve.
  • Solution:
    1. Backup all your data.
    2. Perform a factory reset via the BIOS or HP’s recovery tools.
    3. Monitor the fan behavior after the reset before installing any third-party software or updates.

8. Contact HP Phone Support for a Firmware Update

  • Cause: If this issue is widespread, HP might have released a firmware update or may provide a beta firmware to address the fan speed issue.
  • Solution: Contact HP Support and describe the problem in detail, including the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken. They might be able to offer a solution that isn’t publicly available yet.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, the problem might be more deeply rooted in hardware or firmware, and it may require an inspection or repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
