Hi i have a Victus HP 16  i7  3060 8gb ram. I want to upgrade the ram card.

My task manager says it has 3200 mh, and HP's network says it's DDR4. Is there anything else I should consider for the optimal RAM type, in case I want to add 8 more GB of RAM? I have one slot available

@ggmigueles,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

An outstanding question -and you're right to check before buying an additional RAM stick!

Your Victus 16 (likely a Victus by HP Laptop 16-e0xxx series) uses DDR4-3200 MHz SODIMM memory. Since you already have 8 GB installed and one slot free, the best option for stability and performance is to install another 8 GB stick with the same specifications and brand -ideally identical to the one currently in your laptop.

Here's how to check what's already installed:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → open Task ManagerPerformance tab → Memory → note "Speed", "Form factor", and "Slots used".

  2. To identify the exact brand and part number, open Command Prompt as Administrator and run (copy/paste/Enter):

    wmic memorychip get manufacturer, partnumber, speed

    -or use a free tool like CPU-Z → "SPD" tab to see the module's manufacturer, part number, and timings.

  3. Once you know that info, buy an identical 8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz SODIMM (same brand and timings if possible).

Mixing different RAM brands or timings usually still works, but the memory will run at the lower speed or higher latency of the two modules. Matching RAM modules ensures dual-channel mode and optimal performance with your i7 + RTX 3060 setup.

Kind Regards,
