Hello people, i recently got the victus 16, core i5 10th gen, rtx 3050, i noticed it wouldnt boot my cloned nvme ssd, it normally tries to boot, you can see the circle thingy circling, then it goes to the inaccessible boot device screen, The cloned ssd boots fine in my 10th gen lenovo laptop, Ive tried Diskpart, it doesnt recognise any ssd in both slots in diskpart.  Also it does show both ssd in the hp diagnotics menu, all tests passed.  When i try a fresh install windows 10, i have to use the RST drivers, it boots fine...but i want to use my cloned ssd, its a toshiba nvme ssd 512.... Please Help!!!

Hi @vodenoid,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

If your Victus 16 laptop is not booting after swapping an NVMe SSD from another PC, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Compatibility Check:

  • Ensure that the NVMe SSD is compatible with your Victus 16 laptop in terms of form factor, interface (e.g., NVMe or SATA), and capacity.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Access the laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings and check if the NVMe SSD is detected. It should appear in the list of storage devices.
  • Verify that the BIOS/UEFI settings are configured correctly, particularly the boot order. Make sure the NVMe SSD is set as the primary boot device.

Operating System and Drivers:

  • If the NVMe SSD was previously used in another PC, it may have drivers and configurations specific to that PC's hardware. Consider reinstalling the operating system or using system repair tools to correct any driver-related issues.

Backup Data:

  • Ensure that you have a backup of any important data on the NVMe SSD before making changes to avoid data loss.

Reinstall OS or Clone Drive:

  • If the NVMe SSD contains an operating system from the previous PC, you may need to reinstall the operating system to make it work with your Victus 16 laptop.
  • Alternatively, you can try to clone the OS from the old drive to the NVMe SSD using cloning software. Ensure that the cloning process includes any necessary driver updates.

Driver Updates:

  • Install or update drivers related to the NVMe SSD and any other hardware components that may affect booting.

Secure Boot:

  • Check the Secure Boot settings in the BIOS/UEFI. Some systems require you to disable Secure Boot to boot from an NVMe SSD.

BIOS/UEFI Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your laptop's BIOS/UEFI firmware is up to date. Manufacturers sometimes release updates that improve compatibility.

Hardware Inspection:

  • Ensure that the NVMe SSD is properly seated in its slot. Sometimes, loose connections can cause booting issues.
  • Check the NVMe SSD for physical damage or defects.

Restore Defaults:

  • If you're unsure about your BIOS/UEFI settings, you can try restoring the BIOS/UEFI settings to their default values and then reconfigure them as needed.

If you've tried the above steps and are still experiencing issues, it may be a hardware problem or a more complex compatibility issue. In such cases, it's advisable to contact technical phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
