My HP Victus won't go into sleep mode when the charger is plugged in. When I close the laptop and the charger is plugged in, the fans are still running, after a while they turn off and instantly turn on again (you can hear a click) and again and again... I'm worried about components that turn on and off many times. When I unplug the charger, the laptop works normally and goes into sleep mode correctly (the fan doesn't run). When I plug it back in, the fans start up again. I've already tried: changing charging and sleep settings, updating drivers, updating Windows, reinstalling Windows, testing the hardware in the BIOS.

Hi @Jenda44, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Victus is struggling with sleep mode while charging, likely due to a firmware, driver, or power management issue. Since you've already tried common fixes, here are a few advanced steps to troubleshoot:
Disable "Wake Timers"
Sometimes, wake timers force the laptop to keep turning back on.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings (for the active plan) > Change advanced power settings
- Expand Sleep > Allow wake timers and set it to Disable for both battery and plugged-in modes.
Adjust Power Management for Network Adapter
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager)
- Expand Network Adapters and right-click your active Wi-Fi/Ethernet adapter.
- Go to Properties > Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer".
Disable USB Power Management
- In Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
- Right-click USB Root Hub (repeat for each one) and go to Properties > Power Management.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Disable Modern Standby (S0 Sleep)
Some newer HP laptops use Modern Standby (S0 Sleep), which can cause issues with sleep mode while charging.
Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: powercfg /a
If you see "Standby (S0) Network Connected", your laptop is using Modern Standby.
To disable it, open Registry Editor (Win + R, type regedit), and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power
- Look for CsEnabled (if it exists) and set it to 0.
- Restart your laptop.
Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (F10 on boot).
- Look for Power Management or Advanced Power Settings.
- If available, disable "USB Power Delivery in Sleep Mode", "Wake on AC", or similar options.
Reset Embedded Controller (EC)
This can help fix power-related issues.
- Shut down your laptop.
- Unplug the charger and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Plug the charger back in and power on.
Update BIOS
Since this issue might be firmware-related, make sure you're on the latest BIOS version. Download it from HP official support site.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
