@Small3,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like the keys on your HP 17 Laptop are experiencing wear and tear, which is a common issue for frequently used laptops. Over time, key labels can fade due to constant typing. Here are some suggestions to help you deal with this:

1. Keyboard Protector:

A silicone keyboard protector can help shield the keys from further wear. It's a thin, flexible cover that fits over your keyboard, preventing dirt, dust, and oil from getting into the keys while also providing a layer of protection for the key labels.

2. Keycap Stickers:

If the fading is bothersome, you can apply adhesive keyboard stickers. These are available in various colors and designs and can help restore the readability of the keys.

3. External Keyboard:

If you're primarily working at a desk or using your laptop for extended periods, an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard can take the strain off your laptop's built-in keyboard.

4. Consider Replacing the Keyboard:

If the fading is extreme and affects your ability to use the laptop, you might want to consider getting the keyboard replaced.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Dear Garp_Senchau.

My HP laptop is 3 months old. new!

I use my laptop not more than 2 hours a day.

My hand are clean and I do not suffer from any hand disease.

I had a HP laptop in the past and have never experienced fade out of tekst on the keyboard. Above that, in my profession I had worked with many HP laptops and never saw this phenomen

I think this is a production issue.

As a loyal custome, I hope HP will handle this serious and come up with a satisfying solution.

Kind regards, Peter Visje

I am having the same keyboard issue with my HP laptop that is only 5 months old and is hardly used (home use) over that time!  This is obviously a manufacturing defect that should be covered by the warranty. Will HP just install another keyboard with the same problem or has this problem been remedied?

I'm in Australia and the nearest HP Service Centre is in another state (Australia is big and would take me 8 hours to drive there) so not a good option to just be told a similar 'quality' keyboard would be put on just to wear out in another 6 months. Have been a long-term HP user but - lesson learned.
