Hi, I'd like to ask about replacing the wifi card of my laptop due to compatibility issue with Linux based distros(Mint OS).

Are there any recommendations of what wifi card brands will be suitable and are there anything to consider before getting a replacement?

Thank you.

Laptop model: HP Laptop 15-fc0xxx

Wifi card: RTL8852BE

Hi:

Only Realtek Wi-Fi cards were offered in the model series according to chapter 3 of the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide

To complicate matters, your notebook has an AMD processor and chipset which severely limits other model Wi-Fi cards from working other than those listed in the service manual.

The only suggestion I can offer if your notebook has the RTL8852BE Wi-Fi adapter and not the RTL8852BE-VS Wi-Fi adapter, which only uses one antenna wire to work, would be to experiment with this model which HP used to install in a few model notebooks with AMD Ryzen 4xxx series processors.

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro 160 MHz PCI-e + USB WW with 2 antenna(s)   HP part # L35282-005

According to Intel, that model card has support for Linux and the drivers are available on the Intel website.

There is no guarantee the AX200 will work in your notebook, so you will have to decide what you want to do.
