HP 10TS NOTEBOOK PC (Pavilion)
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

This machine purchase 2014 with Windows 8.1. Over time became slower and slower.

Last year, I did a clean load of Windows 10/32bit. OK at first but each update made it slower.

Now, I've loaded Windows 7/32bit Home Ed. It can't find any Ethernet or wifi drivers. Not even in the Windows.old folders. Ironically, the touch screen works.

Hi,

Try this how to: https://www.howtogeek.com/193798/how-to-find-drivers-for-unknown-devices-in-the-device-manager/

That's the best way to do it.

You're a magician!

Q: Any idea why Windows7 is doing updates when it's out of life-cycle?

HP Recommended

Windows update will work and install updates until the last time it was supported.

In other words, you should get updates up to January 2020.

If you were to install Windows XP on a PC, it would do updates up to April 2014.

Paul,

This machine is running better than when It first came out. I have loaded

  • Windows 7 - 32 bit
  • Office 2007
  • Adobe Reader
  • Security Essentials

I let it perform updates for one day. I have now turned off the updates so it doesn't ruin the performance. Aside from virus/firewall updates, this should run great another 5 years. Again, thanks for your help.
