HP Pavilion 15-n042sl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion 15-n042sl, that still works fine. I did a few upgrade, like changing the battery and replacing the hard drive with an ssd. Now, I'd like to upgrade the WLAN module, but I read that there are some problem with compatibility. In the laptop, it's mounted a realtek rtl8188ee; which module I should buy to replace it? I want to gain Bluetooth and dual-band wi-fi (this last thing would be ideal, but it is not necessary).

Btw, I don't know if the region is important.... I'm from Europe.

Yes, that one would be fine.

You can see the part number (SPS #) listed on the illustration.

Should have no problem upgrading since your notebook hast two wifi antenna wires.

W10 should install the drivers for the card.

Hi:

If your notebook has two antenna wires connected to the Realtek RTL8188EE wifi adapter, you can upgrade to this dual band AC wifi card with Bluetooth...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You should be able to find the card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

I checked: there are two cables, a black one (named "1") and a white one (named "2").

The card you suggested is this one?

Scheda Wireless Dual Band Universale 2.4G + 5G per Intel 7260Ac 867Mbps Scheda di Rete Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Supporto 802.11ac / a/b/g/n Supporto per Msi 16F4 16Gc 1763

I should check anything else before buying it?

Thank you very much

You're very welcome.

Please post back and let us know how your notebook's wifi card upgrade project went.

There are newer drivers for the 7260 AC than what W10 will install.

You can download them below...wifi and bluetooth.

I'm going on holiday, so I'll pause this project for a bit. Thanks for your support, I'll post the result.

Hi, I'm continuing this project, but I think I made a mistake. I ordered this card, it isn't the same one, is it?

Do you know if it works anyway? Does it still have Bluetooth?

HP Recommended

Hi:

It might work anyway, and yes it would have Bluetooth.

You ordered the N version of the card though, not the faster AC version.

300 MBPS max throughput on the 5.0 GHz wifi band instead of 867 MBPS with the Intel 7260 AC.

ok, it works fine. Thanks
