HP-notebook -BS164TU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

  • I have new HP-notebook -BS164TU. It has Intel Core i5-8250U Processor on HP 832A Motherboard.
  • I want to install a new SSD as my HDD bootup is slow.
  • I have 1TB HDD. I am buying 120GB SSD. So that I could install Windows OS on SSD and my other files on HDD.
  • Which SSD should I buy so that I could use BOTH HDD & SDD Simultaniously ?

nb: I am considering

  1. Western Digital 120GB Internal Solid State Drive (WDS120G2G0B)Western DIgital Tech SpecsWestern DIgital Tech Specs
  2. HP SSD S700 M.2 120GB SATA III 3D TLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive 6Gb/s
  3. Intel Optane 16GB PCIe M.2 Memory Module (MEMPEK1W016GAXT)

Please Suggest ?

Is there slot in HP 832A Motherboard to use SSD as well as HDD.  Please Help.

Installed Wester Digital M.2 SSD (2280), 120 GB. Working FIne.

M.2 SSD Steps  : I installed "WD GREEN 120GB M.2 SSD". Booted into Windows & initialized SSD as GPT using "Windows Disk Management" utility. Then created "Acronis True Image 2019" Boot-USB using "Rufus". Booted into "Acronis x64" & Cloned entire "C Drive" ( 80 GB ) to m.2 SSD ( took around 20 minutes ). Now, In "Insyde BIOS utility", Changed default Boot preferences from "Toshiba HDD" to "WD SDD". ReBooted Successfully. Used "Paragon Hard disk Manager" to delete & format HDD and merged it as a single partition of 1 TB HDD.

Everything is working fine.

@Bagginses

Your machine currently has 1TB 5400RPM HDD. You can add the following compatible M.2 SSD's (and more) then move OS to SSD and use old HDD for storage.
