I currently have a 4 GB memory installed (HP part #691740-005) and would like to upgrade to preferably 16 GB but 8 GB if that is too much.
I tried using the HP part surfer to find the compatible 8 GB or 16 GB part but it’s not listed. I have also tried the user manual but that doesn’t have the information either.
I would like to know which part (preferably the #) is compatible as a 8 GB or 16 GB upgrade. Also, I wanted to know if I could just buy the memory from the same manufacturer of my current one but just buy the higher GB version.

Hi:
Your notebook only has one memory slot and supports a max of 1 x 8 GB of DDR3L memory in the slot.
So, you will need to remove the 4 GB memory chip and replace it with an 8 GB memory chip.
I recommend that you go with the 8 GB Crucial memory chip that should be compatible for your notebook.
