Need memory sticks to upgrade laptop from 16 to 32gb RAM.
HP Envy X360 15z Convertible 2-in-1 Laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, 16GB RAM, 2TB Sata SSD, 15.6 FHD (1920 x 1080) Touch, Radeon Vega 8, Win 10 Home)
UPDATE - I'm unable to locate the Maintenance & Service guide for this exact laptop...I've done a search, but cannot find a manual for the 15z with the same specs listed above.
1) Is this possible?
2) Which memory sticks are recommended?
3) Can I do this or does it have to be taken to a service center?
Thanks in advance!

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.
Your notebook has two memory slots and supports up to 2 x 8 GB of memory.
However, the Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates that it can support 2 x 16 GB of memory...
Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT2K16G4SFD824A | Crucial.com
You can do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support...
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Since we don't work for or represent HP, we are not authorized to discuss warranty terms and conditions.
If you look at Chapter 5 of the service manual for the removal and replacement of parts, HP wants the work done by an authorized service center.
What we have learned over the years is that you can do the upgrades yourself as long as you don't break anything in the process of doing the upgrade. That would void the warranty.
If your notebook ever needs warranty service, you will need to return it to its original hardware configuration.

● 16-GB (8-GB × 2)
● 12-GB (8-GB + 4-GB)
