Need information on the CPU upgrade on DV6000, running AMD Turin 64, mobile technology MK36,  speed of 2000MHz. Socket 1.  Plan to upgrading from F.17 bios so I can upgrade to 4G of RAM once I get the CPU.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that information...please do not post the serial number.

You're very welcome.

Yes, that is the number I needed.

You have a HP PAVILION DV6105US NOTEBOOK PC.

Below is the link to the service manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf

You can find the list of supported AMD processors on page 1-2.

The AMD Turion ML-60 2.0-GHz would be the best one you can upgrade to according to the manual.

If you look at the parts list for your notebook, it shows two different motherboards, and I don't know which one yours has.

1.  Page number must be wrong..., which is the correct page number?

2. I have the mother board: 431363-001

Does it matter which MB board, since u seem to recommend the ML-60 for both ?

Although several AMD Turion TL-60 2.0-GHz are available on ebay, there is no AMD Turion ML-60 2.0-GHz.  Can the TL model be used?

I'm looking at page 1-2 of the manual, and see this list of AMD processors...

❏ AMD Turion ML-60 2.0-GHz
❏ AMD Turion ML-56 1.8-GHz
❏ AMD Turion ML-52 1.6-GHz
❏ AMD Turion ML-50 1.6-GHz
❏ Mobile AMD Sempron 3500+ (1.8-GHz)
❏ Mobile AMD Sempron 3400+ (1.8-GHz)
❏ Mobile AMD Sempron 3200+ (1.6-GHz)

On page 3-9 of the manual is the list of AMD processors with their HP part numbers...

The part number for the ML-60 is 436257-001.

I cannot find that processor on eBay by searching by the part number.

I really cannot find any info on ML processors.

The TL-60 is used in the newer versions of the AMD dv6000 (dv6500 and up), and I would have no idea if it would work in the motherboard your PC has.  I doubt it would.

Here is the service manual for the dv6000's that use the TL-60 processor...

I tend to agree with Huffer's comments in this discussion...

that manual is for dv6500, not dv6000.
