I currently own an HP 245 G7 Notebook PC equipped with an AMD PRO A4-4350B R4 processor, featuring 5 Compute Cores (2C+3G). My laptop runs Linux Mint and has 4GB of RAM. I mainly use it for [mention tasks, e.g., development, browsing, light gaming], and it has been performing well overall.
I currently have a 500GB Western Digital HDD (WDC WD5000LPCX-6) installed, connected via the FCH SATA Controller operating at 6 Gbps. Based on the system information, it seems the SATA controller has only 1 physical port implemented, which is already occupied by the HDD.
I’m considering upgrading the storage, and I’d like help with the following:
- Does my laptop have an additional SATA port or an M.2 slot for adding another SSD?
- If there are no extra ports, would replacing the current HDD with a 2.5-inch SSD provide a noticeable performance boost?

On page 2 of the manual, it ONLY has one option for STORAGE which is 2.5" SATA HDD. You can replace it with 2.5" SATA SSD drive (1TB or 2TB) using Crucial MX500 or Samsung 870EVO drives you can see a performance boost.
Regards.
