My CQ-57 has a 2Gb System Ram stick and a 4GB stick as well. Can I just replace the 2GB stick with a 4GB stick? Is there more than one hard drive in this laptop? I know how to access the one on the bottom one.

Yes, you can replace the 2 GB chip with a 4 GB chip.

Your notebook has a single 2.5" mechanical hard drive, so you would have to remove the existing hard drive and replace it with a 2.5" SSD.
