Product: HP Pavilion - 15-cs3006tx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have HP pavillion 15 cs-3006tx laptop. It have 8GB DDR4 2666Mhz RAM. I want to upgrade RAM.

My laptop have 2 RAM slots. one slot is occupied with 8GB RAM.

Which combination  should i prefer? 
8GB + 8GB   OR   8GB + 16GB  
which combination will work fine in dual channel. Please let me know.

The 8 + 8 will work in dual channel but the 8 + 16 won't.

 

In order for the memory to run in dual channel mode, it has to be installed in matching capacities in each slot.

 

You can install 2 x 16 GB which will run in dual channel mode.

I would go with the 8 + 16 because 24 GB of memory running in single channel mode is probably better than 16 GB of memory running in dual channel mode.

 

The other thing is, if you decide you want to install 32 GB of memory the future, you won't be wasting two 8 GB memory chips.

 

You'd only be wasting one.
