The service manual is of little help as it does not list any Intel 1st generation core processors.

No Intel second-generation core processor will work with the Intel HM55 Express Chipset.

So, the only suggestion I can offer would be to look at the Userbenchmark site for the HP 630 where users have uploaded their PC configurations and see what Intel 1st gen dual core processors they may have installed.

UserBenchmark: HP 630 Notebook PC Compatible Components

For example, I see that someone installed an Intel i5-560M in theirs, which from what I saw, was the best one on the report.

Below is a link for the side-by-side comparison of your notebook's current processor and the i5-560M

Intel® Product Specification Comparison

There are other i3 3xx processors listed which are slightly better than yours, but it would probably be a waste of time an effort to upgrade from one i3 processor to another.
