I bought my laptop from Sam’s Warehouse November 2023. It said in the description that the laptop comes with a 2 year damage warranty. I put in the serial number and it said that the 1 year warranty is up. How do I make a claim on the 2 warranty that comes with the laptop?

Hi @Car62,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your warranty coverage.

All HP consumer laptops come standard with a 1-year factory limited warranty. Any additional coverage, such as a 2-year damage protection plan, would not be part of the standard HP warranty unless you specifically purchased an HP Care Pack (extended warranty/Accidental Damage Protection) directly from HP — either through the HP website or over the phone with HP Support.

Since you mentioned that the 2-year damage warranty was listed in the description at Sam’s Warehouse, it is most likely a retailer-provided protection plan rather than an HP Care Pack. In this case, you’ll need to check directly with Sam’s Warehouse for claim instructions, as they would manage and honor that extended coverage.

If you’re unsure whether what you purchased was an HP Care Pack or a store plan, I’d recommend:

  1. Reviewing your purchase receipt or warranty documentation.
  2. Checking if you received an HP Care Pack registration confirmation email.
  3. Contacting Sam’s Warehouse customer service to confirm how to activate or file a claim under their plan.

If it turns out you’d like to purchase additional HP coverage in the future, you can do so only through the official HP Care Pack store online or by calling HP Support directly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
