HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp3000 (9Q8Z1AV)

Today is March 6th 2025 and I just purchased this laptop at BestBuy today.  When I registered the Laptop I see the Warrenty  started in November of 2024 and  expires at the end of the yea,  not next march.

I have submitted a dispute.  My question is and you can send this up to your bosses.  Why did they remove the old Registration with a Warrenty based off that and go to this new system.  It looks like HP is using the Date the Sellers (in my case Best Buy) purchase from HP.   If most people wont do what I did then HP shortens warrenties just to save money.

I feel that is an unfair practice.

Hi @rickineveret, Thank you for your response.
We are sorry you feel that way!

We recommend the customers to register the product as soon it is purchased.

My only complaint is that your required to submit a problem report to get your warrenty extended rather than just a plain sign up for a warrenty and have the date go from purchase.  A lot of people fial to register so they are stuck with the original.  Why do you have to go through the complaint process rather than just a warrenty application.

@rickineveret, Thank you for your response,

You will have to register the product as soon as you purchase, sometimes the date of purchase by the reseller or the production date will be reflected as warranty date.

I'm sending a private message to assist you with the next action.

Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it or simply click on this link

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Yes I know, I registered it.  To me that should start your day. However the needed step of Appealing

the date is un-needed and to me is just HP trying to get away with shorter claims for warrenties

because a lot of people wont file the appeal.  Its an un-needed step.
