HP Pavilion 14 Laptop PC 14-dv2000 (4Z019AV)

Hello,

Accidentally, some water entered my HP Pavilion 14 laptop. I can see water marks inside the display screen and I am worried it may have reached the internal components.

What I experienced:

  • The laptop was working when water spilled, but I immediately turned it off.

  • Visible water streaks/patches are inside the screen.

  • Noticed some flickering when I shut it down.

Steps taken so far:

  • Turned off the laptop immediately.

  • Disconnected charger and external devices.

  • Wiped outside and kept it for drying in open air.

My questions:

  1. What should be the next step to prevent further damage?

  2. Is the screen repairable or does it need replacement?

  3. Should I avoid turning it on until service inspection?

Thank you for any guidance

@SkyDreamer1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query.

We understand your concern regarding the water spillage incident on your HP Pavilion 14 Laptop. Below are the recommended steps and information regarding the damage and next actions you should take:

Immediate Action:

You’ve already taken the crucial first steps by:

Turning off the laptop immediately.

Disconnecting all external devices and the charger.

Allowing the laptop to dry in open air.

We highly recommend that you do not turn the laptop on until it has been thoroughly inspected. Water can cause long-term damage to internal components, even if the laptop seems functional initially.

Inspection & Repair Options:

Since water marks are visible inside the screen, it’s likely that the display may have sustained some damage. The screen may be repairable, but this depends on the extent of the internal damage. We recommend that you do not attempt to open the laptop or disassemble it yourself as this may void the warranty or cause further issues.

It is strongly recommended to have the laptop inspected by a certified technician. HP’s service centers can assess whether the screen and internal components (such as the motherboard, battery, etc.) have been affected by the water.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
