Windows 10, now on windows 11. My HP true vision camera is NOT working. It has not worked since getting this laptop and updating. I have done a fresh install using the HP image recovery software, so its a fresh windows install. Camera was still installed by windows driver under - USB BOOT. I have downloaded realtek drivers and updated driver manually to many various drivers. All fail. Camera app shows camera is being used by app but nothing but blank grey or black screen. I have tried installing Cyberlink Youcam software. Same issue. Camera comes back as disabled unable to connect too. Camera shows in device manager and is installed as working correctly. Hardware ID shows working properly. My function key for camera privacy is turned off. I have tried it with it on disabling the camera in device manager. I have manually installed ALL drivers from a windows 10 and windows 7 installation through Device manager - Install drivers, selected my win7, and win10 harddrive directory and let it add all drivers to the system. Still not working. Still showing as USB BOOT. I have tried downloading Realtek lenovo drivers. None work.
I have tried and exhausted all known workarounds and discussions. NOTHING WORKS. It has been years and we still do not have a fix for this???? Why do I even still purchase HP is my question. Who can help or assist further? HP ENVY line laptops are not cheap and our hardware should be backed by support that works.
Does anyone know, or can they show me the steps to manual edit the registry entries or hardward ID to properly see this camera as a true Realtek HD wide Camera or whatever it is actually supposed to be? Or can HP finally give us a certified and signed driver to fix this issue??? Why build laptops with these webcams if they dont work? HP should have a recall and someone needs to take them to court for this. There hardware simply does not work after updates. It never worked to be exact. Please advise.
