Hi @pajwal,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your laptop's camera is not being recognized and you've already checked the device manager for imaging devices and there are no camera drivers listed on the HP website, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check for Physical Switch or Button: Some laptops have physical switches or buttons to enable or disable the camera. Check your laptop for any switches or buttons related to the camera and make sure it is turned on.

BIOS/UEFI Settings: Check your laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings to ensure that the camera is not disabled at the firmware level. Restart your laptop and access the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or DEL during startup). Look for any camera-related settings and make sure they are enabled.

Windows Camera App Permissions: Make sure that the camera is allowed to be accessed by applications in your Windows settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and ensure that the "Allow apps to access your camera" option is turned on.

Update or Roll Back Drivers: While you mentioned there are no camera drivers listed on the HP website, it's possible that Windows Update may have a generic driver. In the device manager, right-click on any device with a yellow triangle and select "Update driver." You can also try rolling back the driver if an update has caused the issue.

Reinstall the Camera Driver: If you can identify the camera model, you may try uninstalling the current driver and then reinstalling it. To uninstall the driver, right-click on the camera device in the device manager and select "Uninstall device." Then restart your laptop, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver.

System File Checker (SFC) and DISM: Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type:

sfc /scannow

Additionally, you can run the Deployment Image Service and Management Tool (DISM) to repair the Windows image:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, critical updates can address issues with hardware compatibility. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
