HP Pavilion 15-cs1006nb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My 2 months old laptop started making this rattling/scratching noise. Its not the normal blowing sound the fan makes when its running and it did not make this noise the first one and a half month.

I also dont think its the hard drive beacause it is an SSD.

Sometimes it gets louder and then it reduces, sometimes it doesnt make this sound at all.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be and what to do about it?

Thanks.

@Groozer,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Community,

This looks like a possible hardware failure with the notebook. However, I would suggest you try these steps here:

I would recommend you go ahead and run an extensive system test from F2(Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

If the test fails, I would suggest this could be a possible hardware failure. I would recommend you contact our HP support team for further assistance.

HP support can be reached on www.hp.com/contacthp

If the test passes, I would suggest you update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers on your PC either from our HP support website, using this link or download it using HP support assistant.

Download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

For starters please perform all the prescribed steps from these links to try and fix the issue- HP Notebook PCs - Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01007591

Link 2: reducing heat inside the computer: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01657439

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

First of all thanks for your reply.

I ran the extensive system test and everything passed.

So after i updated the BIOS and all other drivers with HP support assistant.

But the laptop keeps making the noise, it doesnt make the noise immediately when the laptop starts running.

Its like something that is supposed to be fixed is loose and the fan hits it or something.

The computer is bought on a webshop so not a physical store.

Should i return it trough the webshop or take further contact with HP?

And is this something warranty will cover?

What do you recommend?
