Hi @Eternity__,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your OMEN 16 (2023) with the Ryzen 7 7840H and RTX 4060, and you’d like to know which GPU handles the USB-C display output. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the GPU routing for USB-C
– On most OMEN 16 (2023) AMD models, the USB-C port is wired to the integrated Radeon 780M graphics.
– This means external displays over USB-C typically run through the iGPU unless a MUX setting changes that.

Verify MUX/Hybrid Graphics settings in OMEN Gaming Hub
– Open OMEN Gaming Hub → Switchable Graphics or Performance Control.
– If a “Discrete GPU only” mode is available, enabling it can route more display tasks through the RTX 4060, but USB-C may still stay wired to the iGPU depending on hardware design.

Check Windows Display Settings to confirm active GPU
– Go to Settings → System → Display → Advanced display.
– Select the external monitor; if it shows “Connected to AMD Radeon 780M,” the port is tied to the iGPU.

Confirm using NVIDIA Control Panel
– Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Desktop → Display GPU Activity Icon.
– Plug in your USB-C display; if it doesn’t appear under “Active displays,” the port is not physically routed to the NVIDIA GPU.

Use a direct HDMI connection if you need RTX output
– On this model, HDMI is typically routed to the RTX 4060.
– For gaming or heavy GPU tasks on an external monitor, HDMI gives you the discrete GPU path.

I hope this helps.
