HP Pavilion 13-an0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm trying to connect my HP Pavilion 13-an0xxx with my 4K external monitor 3840 x 2160 resolution. My graphics card is Intel UHD 620, and it's supposed to be able to support 4k at 60Hz. However, I can't select 60Hz refresh rate. The max I can select is only 30Hz. Hence, the movement of my mouse etc on the monitor is a bit jerky/laggy (not smooth).

I've use a high speed 4k HDMI cable and connected to my external monitor's HDMI 2.0 input.  I'm suspecting my laptop HDMI port version is lesser than 2.0.

What is the best solution for this?

@Melvin81

What is your HP Pavilion 13-an0xxx  ?  The series has

          HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60Hz

Your machine is the same.

FYI: I tested machines using UHD 620 with HDMI 2.0 ports and they only give 3840 x 2160 (aka 4K) @ 30Hz.

Regards.

Thanks for your confirmation. What about the USB C port? can I connect a USB c to Display Port to enable 4k @ 60 Hz on my monitor? Thanks

My laptop is

HP Pavilion 13-an0020tu

I checked the specs and it says: 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI 1.4; 1 headphone/microphone combo.

I tried to use a USB-C to displayport adaptor, which can support 4k/60Hz. But after connecting to my 4K monitor with it + a DP cable, the monitor can't be detected. Pls advise, thanks
