Elitebook 8440p

So I have recently got the Elitebook 8440p, which initially had 2 GB RAM. I upgraded the RAM today to a 4GB RAM. Now it does not boot up properly. It shows the HP screen and turns off and then turns on again showing 'Preparing automatic repair'  and then turns off it's a loop that doesn't. Sometime BSOD comes on and the error code is Kernel Mode heap corruption. So my question is how do I fix i? Is it a problem of the RAM? The RAM I installed is Crucial 4GB DDR3-1600 SODIMM. Is this compatible for my laptop?

My specifications are:

Intel Core i7 CPU

2.67 Hz

I attached the system information below

Hi:

See this discussion...The memory I had posted back in the day was very inexpensive but now it is $99.00 for some crazy reason.

This would be the least expensive memory I could find that should work.

The price in the cart is $17.99.

Hi!

Unfortunately I don't live in the USA to be able to order these. Are you saying that the RAM I recently installed is not compatible with my laptop?

HP Recommended

That is correct.

If you read the details of the discussion regarding the 6550b, you have to get certain memory.

It cannot be 1600 MHz.  It has to be 1333 MHz or 1066 MHz.  It cannot be DDR3L (1.35V).  It must be DDR3 1.5V, and it must have 8 little black memory chips on each side of the circuit board, not 4.

Can you google the Patriot part number from that link I posted and see if you can get it where you live?

Otherwise, try and find a memory module that matches the info I described.

If you want to post the link to memory you find that you think may work, and get my opinion, feel free to do so.

Thank you so much for being so helpful! I have found the exact memory module from where i live.

So i found a maintenance guide for my laptop. And i found these :

Supports the following configurations:
■ 8192-MB total system memory (4096 x 2)
■ 4096-MB total system memory (4096 x 1)
■ 4096-MB total system memory (2048 x 2)*
■ 3072-MB total system memory (2048 + 1024)*
■ 2048-MB total system memory (2048 x 1)*
■ 2048-MB total system memory (1024 x 2)*
■ 1024-MB total system memory (1024 x 1)

I don't really have much understanding of computers. My question is that if i install 4 GB RAM my total memory would be 6 GB because it already has 2 GB. Would that cause any problems or is it fine?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

The best configuration is the 2 x 4 GB.

Not only because it provides the most memory ( 8 GB), but with 2 x 4 GB, the memory runs in the better performing dual data rate (DDR) mode.

With a 4 GB + 2 GB configuration, the memory runs in the lower performing single data rate (SDR) mode.

Hi! Hope you are doing well

I know it's been long but i would like to ask if these RAMs are compatible for my laptop? Which one of those would be preferred?

Hi:

I'm doing fine thanks, and I hope you are too.

I looked at both the memory links you posted and they both look fine.

I can't 100% guarantee they will work but they meet all of the specs (8 black memory chips on each side), 10600...

The one thing about the Samsung memory is that it doesn't show the voltage.

So, if you want the Samsung memory, I would confirm that it is 1.5V and not 1.35V.
