What are the compatible CPU upgrades for a hp pavilion dv7 6c90us laptop

Depends on what motherboard is installed. Here's the Service Manual-  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099448.pdf 

 

You use a utility like CPU-Z to find out what motherboard you have then use the Service Manual to look which cpu it can support.  For us to help more we'd need specific info like CPU and motherboard model.

The name is Intel Core i7 2670QM

Looks like you can upgrade to a  i7-2860QM 2.50-GHz  which would be 300mhz faster and SC Boost from 3000 mhz to 3600 mhz.
