I've an old laptop (hp 15ac101tu) which was very slow when running on windows. I formatted it and installed Ubuntu for better performance. The performance has increased but still the system runs very slow (boot up time, app opening time etc.).
I wanted to know what hardware can I upgrade on this system?
e.g.
1. Can I upgrade the CPU? If yes then what are the options (Supported CPU models)
2. This has 4 GB of RAM, Can I upgrade it to 16 GB and what maximum speed I can choose
3. It has HDD, I know I can upgrade this to SSD.
Also could anyone suggest what would be the expected performance boost after doing the upgrade based on default laptop configuration performance (e.g., Iif I upgrade the HDD to SSD, I'm expecting a performance boost of at least 3 times)?
Any info on these points will help.
Thanks,
Sambit

The processor is not something you can upgrade and it will always be "slow" at 2GHz. The processor is integrated (soldered on) into the system board.
Upgrading to an SSD will provide you with a major performance boost.

Upgrading to two identical 4GB DDRL-1600 SDRAM modules will help.
