I found here (https://parts.hp.com) that in my laptop (s/n 2CE2292BRR, part B6Q15EA) set battery 685988-001.

Can I used battery 671604-001 instead of 685988-001?

Because battery 685988-001is big and it sticking out of a laptop.

Part 671604-001 is no longer supplied. Please order the replacement, 685988-001

It is true that the 6-cell battery might be larger than the 4-cell unit.

The 4-cell battery is marked as no longer available.

You could try searching for the old part / 4-cell unit on the 'net.  Getting one may be easy or impossible - try it and see.

Take the computer to a local licensed technician and ask for help - see what he says about the battery.  He has likely seen a thousand batteries and can provide a useful opinion.

As long as the battery works, you certainly have time to think about what you want to do.

I have laptop with damaged battery 😞

I read on the net that batteries  685988-001 and 671604-001 have different mains voltage. (14,8V and 11,1V). I think that if I set 14,8 instead of 11,1 I'll have a problem with my laptop.

Thinking the battery is going to harm the computer is certainly different from a concern that it sticks out.

I rarely comment on what people read on the 'net.

This is not my area of expertise.

What to do?

Trust that the recommended part is appropriate for the computer,

or

Stop using the battery,

and

Try and find the part you want,

or

Take the computer to a tech and ask his opinion,

or

Wait for someone else to comment here and offer an opinion on what you should do.

Unfortunately, I have exhausted what I can offer on the subject.

Good Luck.
