You're very welcome.
If those are the only two devices that need drivers, you need these instead...
BSD:
This package contains the Ricoh Media Card Reader Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Ricoh Media Card Reader driver provides support for the following media: Memory Stick, xD-Picture Card, MMC, SD, and SmartCard.

PCI Serial Port:
This package provides the Intel Management Engine Components Driver and Interface.

The 3D driveguard device would be labeled as an Unknown Device if the driver was missing.

Hi:
You may want to use the HP PC HARDWARE DIAGNOSTICS 4-IN-1 USB KEY at the link below.
It is located at the bottom center of the webpage.

Ran HP Diagnostic Tool 4 in 1 and my system scored 100% life Is Good however Device Manager reports an Unknown Device for which nodrivers are installed - since the system works fine I deeted it the entry and when I rebooted it reappeared. Since it is not a hardware issue wht could be the cause of this issue?

Post the hardware ID for the unknown device, and I will post the link to the driver you need to install for it.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

Hi:
You need this driver for that device...
This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.

Thank you Paul for your very clear reply to my question. I am on the road tonight will be home tomorrow and will install the HP 3D Drive Guard. Tonight I have my 8440p with me and Device Manager reports a similar situation. Under Other Devices it lists Base System Device - drivers not installed and PCI Serial Port - drivers not installed. Sould I install the 3D Drive Guard here too?
