Hi @chriscpl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The screenshot shows an HP Support Assistant installation summary where the Intel Thunderbolt 3 DCH Driver failed to install with Failure Code: 0.

What Does Failure Code: 0 Mean?

This is a generic installation failure code in HP Support Assistant. It usually indicates:

  • The driver package could not be installed due to compatibility issues, corrupted download, or missing prerequisites.
  • It’s not a hardware fault; it’s a software/driver installation problem.

How to Fix It

1. Download the Driver Manually

  • Go to the official HP driver page for your notebook: 👉 Official HP® Support
  • Enter your laptop model and download the latest Intel Thunderbolt 3 DCH Driver.

2. Uninstall Old Thunderbolt Software

  • Press Windows + X > Apps & Features.
  • Search for Thunderbolt and uninstall any existing Intel Thunderbolt software.

3. Install the New Driver

  • Run the downloaded installer as Administrator.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

4. Update BIOS and Chipset

  • Sometimes Thunderbolt drivers require the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • Download them from the same HP driver page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
