X360 : means machines can have tablet mode which allows you can fold to 360°
830: is for 800 series with screens size 13" (840 for 14" 850 for 15" and 860 for 16")
1040 is for lighter machines with 14"screen size same as 800 series
for 830 and 1040, you can see generation for example 830 G4 for 4th generation, 830 G5 for 5th generation.
