Common problems for Battery

HP Envy laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ran the PC Hardware Diagnostics to check my battery and it failed.  It provided this code when I contact HP:

 GLPFPG-6AP94W-QFPK0K-C09N13

Does this mean I need a new battery (fingers crossed) or something else?

Thank you!

Your welcome.

The part number of the compatible batteries:

9-cell, 100-Wh, 3.0-Ah, Li-ion battery               part number 672412-001

6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.8-Ah, Li-ion battery                  part number 671731-001

If you perform online search with part number you can easily find quality compatible batteries

I think you have posted this in a few places and I told you it is more serious than just the battery. Here is a screenshot of the test translation app which I am not at liberty to reveal how you get to it but here it is :

FAILED CHECKSUMFAILED CHECKSUM

On an HP laptop failed checksum generally means the BIOS chip on the motherboard is bad and that requires motherboard replacement, but I told you that already and I think you are shopping around for someone to tell you something nicer.

I have never posted anything until this afternoon, so I am not whomever you are referring to.  As stated, I ran the diagnostic on my battery and received the error code I posted and it also said battery failed.  In the diagnostic tool it stated to use the code when contacting support, so I'm trying to find out what it means.

I'm not sure why you are being rude, but it most definitely is unwarranted and misdirected.

Odd that we have had three posts today from people who said they had battery issues, ran a diagnostic, gave the Code and it comes up as a checksum error. As you might imagine this is a Public forum and people frequently post under one name, forget their password so create a new account. I have no reason not to trust you when you say you are not the person who posted the other similar inquiries. Regardless of rudeness or not the answer I gave is the unvarnished truth and if it was rude I apologize. Our feelings in this matter are not going to change the facts so now you have to deal with the actual problem. I will leave you to others who might be able to help. Good luck.

Hi @Huffer @ShaBee

Running the code does not give me a checksum failure ( Huffer, you have an O instead of a 0 in the last set of characters) . It gives failure of battery 1. So what you need to do is replace the battery.

So basically, you need to replace the battery. If you provide the exact model or product number of the PC I can provide you with the part number and you can then find the battery online or in HP parts store.

Hi,

There are a few Envy DV6 series, so if you look at link above (it shows how to find it),try to provide the exact product number or model number (not serial number).
