Hi, I have an issue when upgrading the storage for my Elitebook 640 G9 laptop. Both the manual and here say we can install a 2230 M.2 type SSD to the WWAN slot, but I found 2230 is too short!!! So is it 2242 SSD that actually fits? Many thxThis is the 2230 SSD, it doesn' t fitThis is the 2230 SSD, it doesn' t fit

@njh5,

I would suggest you install the M.2 2230 firmly into the slot and boot into Windows. Go to Disk Management and check if Windows recognizes the M.2 2230 in pre initialization state.

If Windows recognize it, you can possibly keep it and get an M.2 2230 to 2242 extender adaptor from an online vendor, something like this:

M.2 PCIE NVMe SSD Length Extender Card 2230 to 2242 Adapter Bracket Hard drive | eBay

You can also look for another types of adaptors from here:

M.2 SSD extender 2230 to 2242 - Google Search

Thx, I used a tape and paper-made holder to temporaly intsall the SSD on the machine, luckily it works. I will make a order to get an extender to convert it to 2242 ssd. Thx
