HP Support Assistant analyzes my notebook as being a "dv-5 1254us", however the bottom sticker denotes "Product: Pavilion dv-6" and "model #: dv-6 1254us". (Serial numbers and Product numbers do match). There appears to be absolutely no information on this forum and elsewhere regarding the sticker model number. Do I have some kind of mongrel here?
I want to be absolutely sure since I'm contemplating downloading a BIOS upgrade in order to get the "f2" Battery Calibration routine, which is missing on the current BIOS (Hewlett-Packard F.21 8-20-2009).
Yup, this is ultimately another Battery Calibration problem.
Any advice will be much appreciated!

You're very welcome.
The product number you saw in the BIOS will let you know what it is.
Enter the product number in the search box a the link below, and it will tell you what you actually have.

it is possible that HP put a dv5 motherboard in the dv6 chassis.

Hi:
Go into the BIOS and on the system information screen you should see the correct model number or product number.
If you are still unsure, post the product number you see in the system information screen in the BIOS.

Thanks again, PT. The BIOS number matches the p/n on the notebook sticker, and the link you provided (which I remember seeing a few hours ago) shows dv-5. I'm going to go shopping for an update (2009 seems old, no?). R

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
Looked up some info online and I cannot find any info on a dv6-1254us.
There is a dv6-1254tx
The specs on the notebook you have indicates it comes with a Mobile Intel Series 4 chipset since it has the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD graphics. I also see that it comes with an Intel dual band wireless card too.

It still has some life in it.
I'm still using older HP notebooks than that one, and I am using a HP Elitebook 6930p with the same chipset as your dv5.
It still works great.
Looking at the support page for your notebook the newest BIOS revision is Version F.21 Rev. A, Released: Sep 4, 2009.
There won't be any newer that I know of.
