My wife has a pavilion g6-1b60us and I have the Pavilion g7-1260us and both have the hard drives going out on them. I need to replace both drives but can not find out which ones to get? I don't know if they are 7mm or 9.5 mm or if it matters.
Do I need the 5400 rpm or can I use the 7200 rpm in them? Can I use the 750 GB in both? Are they limited to the 500GB? I want the 1TB but don't think it is supported.
I checked HP site and could not find this information. Where can I find this information?
I wanted to change to the Western Digital drives if I can as I can buy three for the price of one HP but can't find what ones I need as I don't know what I can use in the computers?
What is the lowest Cache should I use? I don't know what I have now.
Thanks if you can help.

My own view is a modern 1TB drive is less intrusive and power hungry and should be suitable.
If in doubt please ask.

Thanks.
You said, "My own view is a modern 1TB drive is less intrusive and power hungry and should be suitable."
I agree but if it is not supported how would I be able to use it?
Here is the Model in the Pavilion G6 is Hitachi HTS547550A9E384 500 GB
and the Pavilion G7 is Hitachi HTS547564A9E384 640 GB
All of my computer work has been on the towers not Notebooks.

Hey Proffesor, I just wanted to let you know that I purchased two of these, Seagate 1TB and 500GB BarrsCuda SATA 6Gb/s 128mb Cache 2.5-inch 7mm Internal drives. Both fit perfect, no problems installing. I emailed Seagate, HP and Western Digital and they were not any help at all. They run better than when they were new. Thanks for the help. Hopefully this will help others too?
