Hey All.

Quick question.

I had an "Unknown Device" that most of us have seen at some point going through Device Mananger.

After searching the Device Hardware ID I found a HP support article from 2014 with an attachment from a HP Expert  with the fix for said "Unknown Device" however, After i installed the driver (Which worked absolutely fine) it displayed that the device driver installed was for AMDAS4.

What is that exactly?

I do not have the Catalyst Control Center OR Radeon Software installed because I get the random black screen when using the offical drivers and OEM ones and it works perfectly fine with the driver microsoft installs anyway.

So is it just a missing driver for the Radeon 6 graphics that would have/is in the package with the Graphics Driver? or something else?

Any help would be great.

@Laptopping

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you need help with the "AMD AS4" missing message,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you update the BIOS, Chip-set & graphics card drivers?

(If not, Click here to find and install the same)

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

To answer your question:

AmdAS4.sys is part of a product called known as Amd AS4 Device Driver and it is developed by Advanced Mirco Devices, Inc. C:\Windows\system32\

The issue may occur If AmdAS4.sys is using too much CPU or too much memory in your system, it is possible that your file has been infected with a virus and I recommend you run a full system scan.

Update the drivers and let me know how that pans out from the link website.

If you would like to thank me for my efforts to help you,

feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Have a great day!
