What is the maximum supported RAM size and speed for HP 15-db0996na laptop? The manual only states current configuration. On some of the websites it says 16 on some 32 but there is no source provided for that information. Also, current fit is DDR4-2400, but some websites say 2666 is compatible, or even 3200. What is the OFFICIAL spec for max compatible devices?
Many thanks

Hi,
It supports max 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM (2x16GB) even if service manual mentions 16GB
Example
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-db0996na
You can insert faster RAM, however, it will run at 2400MHz.
On page 43 of service manual you can see the steps to install the RAM

Many thanks. After I'd asked the question I figured that was the case with the speed - it was only then I caught on to the processor speed (I guess that's what defines the max RAM speed?). And I just wanted confirmation on the size - but I guess I'll only upgrade from 8G to 16G for now (in today's covid-driven price environment!! 😛 )
Again, many thanks for your response

You're welcome.
Yes it has to do with the CPU

Now, an upgrade that would really give a great boost to the notebook would be to install an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD and then reinstall the OS on it.

Take care,
