  1. Product: HP G72-c55DX Notebook PC     Product Number: XZ218UARABA
  2. OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Problem: Considering memory upgrade

Why: Video editting consume ALL RAM (4Gb) and wants more, so program runs very slow.

Roadblock: I cant find maximum addressable by motherboard on HP site.

I downloaded the manual HP G72 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. In Product Description under memory it states the following.

Memory

2 customer-accessible/upgradable SODIMM slots

Supports dual-channel memory DDR3, 1333 MHz

Supports up to 8 GB of system memory

Supports the following configurations:

4096 MB (2048 MB × 2)

3072 MB (1024 MB × 1 + 2048 MB × 1)

2048 MB (2048 MB × 1)

2048 MB (1024 MB × 2)

1024 MB (1024 MB × 1)

Can the hardware support a 4096 MB SODIMM?

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02634812

Maximum supported memory is 2 x 4 GB of DDR3-PC10600 memory.

This information is also confirmed in chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual.  They just left out the 2 x 4 GB configuration in error in the service manual.
